Dear RETRO Members;
As May begins, remember with it brings a few holidays to note: Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day and Memorial Day! With a good mix of rain and sunshine, we’ve seen a hint of what summer may bring. Causes to observe this month begin with: Healthly Vision Month, National Electrical Safety Month, Clean Air Month, and Motorcycle Safety Month. Other observances for May begin on May 1st for “Keep Kids Alive Drive 25 Day”. During the week of May 6 through 12 is North American Occupational Safety & Health Week. May 16th is National Employee Health & Fitness Day. During the week of May 14 through the 29th is National Dog Bite Prevention Week. (Many claims are filed each year for dog bites, so take precautions when you deliver or work at a residence.) The week of May 27th through June 2nd is National Hurricane Preparedness Week.
As usual, we have two great agenda items for your Safety Meetings this month! Our first topic is: Falls from Portable Ladders. As one of the leading causes for deaths and injuries in our country, this one item is always important to refresh and remember! Have you inspected your ladders lately? Do you know what the maximum load they can hold? One fall could change your life forever. Are you hanging up decorations in your store properly? Think before it’s too late!
Our second and final agenda item: Unsafe Acts and Conditions. One common denominator is the usually the worker. Don’t get creative with unsafe acts, always get help if you don’t know understand how something works, and don’t find out the hard way! Remember to take the time and BE SAFE!
Here at WRA, we’re wishing you a great Mother’s Day and Memorial Day and an even better May!
Think Safety!
